HCL /Portables
This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.
- ONLY add hardware that you have TESTED. Don't add hardware just because you think it might work.
- Please add hardware into tables.
- This is for builds only.
Please list your computers in alphabetical order by manufacturer (Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, etc)
For how to edit the Wiki, please see this thread. Thank you!

- Install method: I used the retail Snow Leopard DVD and booted it from EmpireEFI. Did a normal install, and you will get an error at the end saying that the installation failed. Just reboot and start Smow Leopard from EmpireEFI again. For the bootloader, myHack would make the keyboard and mouse stop working, but MultiBeast seems to work. You can do a normal update to , after that, you need to download kernels and stuff.
- Dong's Framebuffer for full resolution Download
- Wireless is detected as Airport Extreme

- Used the "Iboot Supported + Multibeast" method. Installed from a USB hard drive. Booted into the USB installer with the "Iboot-Supported" CD I burned.
- In the USB installer, I replaced the www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar file in /System/Installation/Packages/ with www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar and replaced the OSInstall file in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/www.cronistalascolonias.com.arork/Frameworks/www.cronistalascolonias.com.arork/Versions/A/ with www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar to install on a dual boot configuration with a MBR formatted disk.
- Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail Install followed by the combo update.
- Ran Multibeast to install "Easybeast for Supported CPU." In Multibeast, I also checked the boxes for VooDooHDA for the i ICH9 Intel HDA audio, and the VooDoo PS/2 controller with Trackpad Support so I didn't have to use a USB keyboard and USB mouse.
- Switched out my Intel Link a/g/Draft-N Wireless for a Broadcom mini pci card and the Broadcom card worked out of the box.
- Didn't get my Marvell Ethernet working yet.
- Webcam works out of the box but no internal microphone functionality yet.
- Graphics set to x and no QE for intel MHD. Your system might become unstable but you might have a chance at the full x resolution with this file www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar
- Brightness adjustment is non-existent.
- HDMI port not working as of yet.
- USB ports all work out of the box but the SD card reader doesn't do anything as of yet.

- What Works: Stock Wireless, Bluetooth, Ethernet, Sound, Mic, WebCam, touch pad (slightly buggy after rebooting from Windows), SD Card reader.
- What does not work: Battery Meter, Power management, Fn Keys (WiFi can be turned off but not on)

- Modded BIOS supposedly fixes ACPI problems. Download it here: [8]
Note from MoonDogg (author of Guide): Battery Meter & Power management works fine. Fn Keys can be made to work but I have no use for them so I did not include it in my guide. I also have never used the modified bios and do not know what it will do to your machine. (you have been warned!!)

- SATA & IDE: The both are working. www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar from and www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar by Netkas are needed.
- Important Notes: You must have a working OS X Install. If you want to get it working, you must first restore the Retail DVD to a Hard Drive (WHICH ONE??--Essentially, this setup method needs 3 hard drives: one that already has OS X installed on it; one that is blank and for extracting the contents of the install DVD and one that will be the finished snow leopard installation. restore the DVD to a spare hard drive (which will wipe all its contents) that you will use to modify the install DVD - not the one you will end up installing snow leopard onto)and than use modified www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar (WHARE TO GET THAT??-if your drive is set to boot from MBR and not GUID, you need a modified installation package which can be had here., if not, go to the os x install dvd and type Command+Shift+G and paste "/System/Installation/Packages/ and run www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar")to Install it. After that, just install Boot Think Copy the www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar file to the /Darwin Folder. Before you boot it, you must first install the drivers like www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar

- Install Method: iAtkos S3 V2 first, and ComboUpdate from Apple later. Update: Idem to
- OsX Version: - Kernel I'm currently running in 64 bit mode, but some features from at 32 bits were lost. Update: I'm currently runing at 32 bit mode (I don't even remember what's the state of my installation or how it behaves at 64 bit)
- CPU: Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo
- Graphic card: Intel GMA X QE supported while in at 32 bit mode. I'm not sure if it can be supported on I have to downgrade kexts to stock ones from to gain some kind of support for this card in 64 bits mode. Update: I'm runing with QE Suported, at 32 bits.
- RAM: 4GB
- Hard disk: GB
- DVD-RW: Works out of the box.
- LAN: I don't know / I didn't try to install this, buy I think the iAtkos DVD has the drivers. Update: I still don't have this working on , after some attempts whith the iAtkos drivers.
- Firewire: I don't know / I don't have firewire gadgets to try.
- Keyboard/Trackpad/Multimedia front key: Full Working using VoodooPS2 Controller on When upgraded to the trackpad stop working. Update: At everything is working OK.
- Sound: Works out of the box. VoodooHDA
- Wireless: Works out of the box installing the wireless drivers Broadcom that came with iAtkos.
- Bluetooth: Works out of the box (or at least it seems to be, I didn't test it against anything yet)/
- Card Reader: I don't know when I get a SD card I'll be back to post about it. Update: doesn't seem to be working. Update 2: It works sometimes.
- My original install configuration for (i only mention what I leave checked anything else was unchecked in my case):
- Bootloader
- Bootloader Option
- Patches
- Extra Directory
- fakesmc
- Disabler
- RTC
- EVO Reboot
- Drivers
- Main Hardware
- Sata/IDE
- Sound
- PS/2
- Laptop Hardware
- Main Hardware
- I post-installed this going to /System/Installation/Packages on the Install DVD later:
- Drivers
- Main Hardware
- NTFS-3G
- Main Hardware
- Drivers
- I also added to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar, under Kernel Flags, the "pmVersion=20" config, when upgrading to I'm not sure if it is really necessary (I didn't test it without it yet). I have a lot to test yet!
- Some extra notes: I never managed (never attempted actually) to make it work the hibernation / suspend modes so I just turn on/off the machine when I need it. The battery cycles doesn't seem to be working, but I think it is because the battery itself doesn't have the necessary for this (is not a software issue, I think). Sometimes (actually, in very rare occasions) the machine has a kernel panic on boot. Just force shut-down and turn it on again always solves the problem. On even more rare ocassions (maybe four or five times in a year) the machine gets frozen and I have to force shut down, which always solves the problem. In fact, actually is not frozen really, it seem the keyboard and keypad stops working (I discover this one time when this "hang" happened while air mouse was running, and this allowed to perform a clean shutdown normally.)

Everything works in just 45minutes installation. What you need is a Mac, a 8GB USB Stick, and this awesome Tutorial [15] It worked fine for me with some small changes. I had to delete VoodooPS2 out of the Boot/Extra on the USB because it caused a Kernel Panic, later on it isn't a Problem to Install it. And Sleep Enabler had to be deleted from every pint (Boot/Extra, Post-Install/Extra and Extensions) because it causes a Kernel Panic when you Update to Except this everything worked fine for me, even Sleep Enabler wasn't necessary.

- Boot and install from SnowLeo OS X86 DVD(from The Pirate Bay) - No problems booting, hanging, etc.
[edit] Additional KEXTS
- VoodooHDA
- Apple PS/2 v2 - Voodoo PS/2 DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, only Apple PS/2 v2 gives you control over the cursor speed in SYS. PREFS.
- Realtek RTL Ethernet
- Voodoo Battery Monitor
- Apple Battery Monitor
- Intel GMA KEXT, get from [25] - without this your stuck with xx32
[edit] Kernel Recommendations
- Chocolate is your best bet, MACH panics consistently when doing stuff like messing around in PhotoBooth
[edit] What Works
- With Chocolate Kernel, no problems booting, hanging, anything. Using standard MACH, you need to use -x -f on first boot after installing, but its ok on its own after that.
- Internal Ethernet works perfectly
- Video works well, after installing the Intel GMA KEXT, you will get a decent range of resolutions, x up to x
- QuartzGL works after being enabled in OSX86TOOLS
- Audio works %
