Iso wont download as rar

I just downloaded the last Ubuntu version for my Acer one netbook but it doesnt have .iso extension but .rar thus i cannot add it to the universal usb installer.
HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!

That does not sound like the correct download, I suggest you try again.

1) Open the RAR file using WinRAR and extract all files.
2) Once the files are extracted you would need to "zip" them into ISO file.
3) You can use PowerISO to do that or any other ISO software.
4) Once you have zipped everything into ISO file try adding the file to your USB installer.

Although you could do that, Ubuntu is not distributed as a rar, I would not trust it.

I guess the location where this guy got this file from is not trusted, I haven't really thought about it. Do you guys have issues with others trying to "sell" fake Ubuntus etc?

I actually downloaded the file by following the directions from the www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar site. Here's the link:

I did unzipped the rar file and did compressed into an iso file by using ashampoo, however it didnt work, still looks like a rar file despite the iso extension.

I'll try the link you posted up there.

It may the Windows XP sees the file as a rar/zip file, but it isn't. Just download it and don't unpack it.

As indicated by Artificial Intelligence , Windows does not recognize the .iso extention.

You do not need to extract anything, just burn the iso to a disk

Or use unetboot to make a bootable flash drive.

Well the point is im stuck in the installation. Any suggestions on how to install it from a usb because my netbook doesnt have a dvd reader

+1. I had the same thing happen once: a downloaded ISO file showed up on one of my Windows installs as a "rar" file.
