You should upgrade to manually by following below steps.

1. Right click on Windows Start > Windows Powershell (Admin)
Type following (or copy and paste following) one by one and Enter

net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc

2. Type following in Windows Start Search box and hit Enter %systemroot%\Logs\CBS > Rename www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar to something else.
If it doesn't allow you to rename - Type services in Windows Start Search box > Click Services > Scroll down to find the Windows Modules Installer service and double-click on it > Set its startup type to Manual > Reboot your computer

Thanks for the replies.

I tried the simple iso file upgrade. This ended in the error message.
Then I tried to switch the various services off and on, but was unable to rename the catroot2 and softwaredistribution folders even when changing the security access because windows reported that some files were in use.

Then I tried the windows reset with a iso file upgrade but again ended up with the same message that the upgrade had failed.

The laptop has a dual boot with linux. GRUB is set to boot into windows by default. Does GRUB interfere with the reboot to windows after upgrading?
