Dave Grohl has been dropping hints that Them Crooked Vultures could make a return at some point in the future. 

The supergroup, featuring the Foo Fighters frontman, Queens Of The Stone Age​’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, released on album in and have remained inactive since , but Dave Grohl has teased a comeback of the hard rock trio

Speaking to The Guardian ahead of their headline sets at Reading & Leeds festivals this weekend, Dave chats candidly about Them Crooked Vultures and his relationship with Josh and John, describing the QOTSA frontman as one of his best friends.

“We’re like brothers. We go out and have waffles together. We ride motorcycles. There is nobody I’d rather play drums with. He’s the guy.” 

Although Dave isn’t quite so cool around John Paul Jones.

“There are times when you’ve relaxed into a sofa and you’re not thinking about his time in Led Zeppelin. Then you start playing and you’re immediately reminded that you are a musical speck compared to this man. It’s still hard to accept that I got to play in a band with that guy. 

“Technically we’re still a band,” he teases. ​“We practise once every decade, and we’re coming up on another decade aren’t we? I don’t have any official news but there’s always something cooking.”

Them Crooked Vultures’ 4K-rated self-titled debut album was released in November , so we’re only a matter of months away from the big 1 – 0 anniversary celebration. Next year will be a decade since their performance on the main stage at Download festival – perhaps they’ll make a return to Donington in ?
