Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number.

Did you make any changes prior to this issue?

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Restart the computer a few times and check for Windows Updates.

In the Search box on the taskbar, enter Windows Update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates.

Try to run Hardware Troubleshooter. It checks for common issues and makes sure that any new device or hardware attached to your computer was installed correctly.

a. Press Windows Logo Key+X then click on Search option.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

c. In the new window, click View all on the left pane.

d. In the list of options, click on Hardware and devices.

e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

I didn't make changes before, other then the automatic updates. 

Thank you for the suggestions made, though nothing seems to have changed after doing them.

There are no Windows 8 or 10 drivers for this from the manufacturer. It's supposed to be plug and play. 

You might want to try temporarily unplugging all non essential USB devices and plugging in the mic in case it's a low power issue. 

I have a video that might help with getting this working on Windows 10 though it might not solve your actual problem.
