Bio
Keith Sorrels is the instructor of oboe at Western Kentucky University since In addition to his teaching at WKU, Keith works at Onks Woodwind Specialists in Smyrna, TN restoring oboes. Keith is an active freelance musician and has a private studio of oboe and reed-making students.
A native of Munster, Indiana, Keith began playing the oboe at the age 10 as a student of Amy Barwan. He subsequently studied with William Denton at Indiana State University, from which he graduated in with a Bachelor of Music degree. Keith earned a Master of Music () and Performer Diploma () from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a student of Linda Strommen, Roger Roe, Washington McClain, and Daniel Stolper. Keith is currently a doctoral candidate at the JSoM; his research project is, "Thematic Continuity and Melodic Recycling in Herbert Howells' Sonata for Oboe and Piano ()."
Keith lives in Nashville with his wife, Robin Eckert, and their two mutts, Jack and Rupert.
