'Cinema 16' je brand pod kojim se nalaze zbirke najvrednijih kratkih filmova koji nam pokazuju da najbolji redatelji sazrijevaju kroz kratku formu. Priznajmo, kratki filmovi nisu najgledanija stvar - čak se i hrvatskoj festivalskoj publici najlakše 'podmetnu' s projekcijama prije dugometražnih. Na pitanje može li se snimiti dobar film od 10 ili 15 minuta najbolje je odgovoriti primjerima najboljih kratkiša najvećih svjetskih redatelja. To radi Luke Morris, koji nije samo producent i redatelj kratkih filmova, nego i njihov najveći promotor. On pod etiketom 'Cinema 16' izdaje kompilacije kratkih filmova najznačajnijih filmskih autora. Četvrta, zadnja kompilacija pod oznakom 'Cinema 16' obuhvaća kratke filmove iz cijeog svijeta i sadrži radove Alfonsa Cuaróna, Guillerma Del Tora, Guya Maddina, Park Chan-Wooka, Jane Campion, Aleksandra Sukurova i ostalih autora čiji filmovi su stali na ovaj 2-struki DVD sa pet sati filmova. Na kompilaciji se nalaze razni zanimljivi filmovi, npr. 'My Father is Years Old' koji je nastao tako da je Isabella Rossellini zamolila Guya Maddina da napravi posvetu njezinom ocu, Robertu Rosselliniju. Tu je i 'Dona Lupe' koji je godišnjem Guillermu Del Toru bio već 9. film, a u njemu je taj autor već pokazivao sklonosti prema napetim, komornim pričama.

'Two Cars, One Night' je novozelandski film koji je dobio nominaciju za Oscara, a redatelja Waititija smo na prošlom ZFF-u upoznali kao autora simpatičnog 'Orla protiv Morskog psa'. Oscara je pak dobio hvaljeni 'Wasp' /naslovna/ iza kojeg stoji jedna hvaljena redateljica, Andrea Arnold ('Red Road'), a oskarovsku nominaciju i dosta nagrada ima i animirani 'Madame Tutli-Putli' o kojem smo dosta pisali. Prije ovog izdanja Morris je izdao slične veličanstvene kompilacije - američku (Tim Burton, George Lucas, Alexander Payne, Gus Van Sant, Todd Solondz, Mike Mills i Maya Deren), europsku (Lars von Trier, Jean Luc Godard, Jan Švankmajer, Lukas Moodysson, Tom Tykwer) i britansku (Chris Nolan, Ridley Scott, Mike Leigh, Stephen Daldry, Lynne Ramsay i Peter Greenaway). Izgleda kao ilustracija leksikona 'Tko je tko u svjetskoj kinematografiji', a pošto izdanja sadrže i brojne komentare redatelja, trebala bi biti obvezna lektira u svim filmskim školama.

Morrisov cilj je za kratkiše izboriti bolji status u svijetu filmu, baš kao što i kratke priče u svijetu literature imaju cjenjen odnos u odnosu na romane. Morris tvrdi da kod kratkih filmova možete primijetiti najzanimljivije režiranje, jer ljudi 'nisu sputani komercijalnim pritiscima' koji ograničavaju autore kod snimanja dugometražnih filmova. Umjesto toga, autori u sažetoj formi koncentriraju svoje ideje, pa tako u ranim radovima slavnih redatelja možemo vidjeti začetke budućih estetika. I sami filmaši s ovih kompilacija trude se čim više promovirati ovu pomalo potcijenjenu formu. Jane Campion tako navodi da 'kratki filmovi nisu inferiorni, nego samo različiti', a 'privlačno je to što nemaš toliko odgovornosti za fabulu', što po njoj omogućava 'više kreativnosti', 'čak i za redatelje koji inače rade dosadne dugometražne filmove'. Guillermo Del Toro je još direktniji: 'Ako je nekompetentni kučkin sin poput mene napravio kratki film, izgradio karijeru i snima dugometražne filmove - onda ima nade za svakoga'. One of the best documentaries about film and filmmakers

I just watched the documentary "Fog City Mavericks" on the Starz cable TV network. It is without a doubt, one of my most enjoyable viewing experiences ever! It chronicles the San Francisco Bay area artists and creative talent responsible for the some of the best films ever made. In addition to the well-known artists listed, t also includes segments with Irvin Kershner, Caleb Deschanel and a segment about Pixar Animation Studios. I hope it will be released on DVD-this is a must for any collection about cinema history and brilliant film-making. If you are even remotely interested in movies and the people who create them, you will not be disappointed.

Ten masterly lessons of cinema by Abbas Kiarostami, whose metaphysical work is characterized by his unique poetry and his sense of purity. In addition to the rigor of his frame, the Iranian filmmaker imposes the physical immediacy of his shots, inspired by the magnificence his landscapes and depth of field. His naturalist fictions are spread majestically in the election sets. Beautiful. Simply astonishing. A visual feast of stylish imagery. This book is a masterpiece of illustrative storytelling. Can you tell I liked it?

The Art of the Matrix is a huge, hardbound, coffee table book that tells the story of The Matrix, and more importantly, shows the difficult path the creators followed in getting the studio to greenlight the movie. The script for The Matrix (included in full) proved to be insufficient to fully demonstrate the Wachowskis' vision to the Warner Bros. executives, so they commissioned a number of artists (several from the comic book world) to produce detailed conceptual drawings, storyboards, and other illustrations. These illustrations proved essential to explaining the movie to the decision-makers at the studio.

The Wachowskis also broke from storyboard tradition and instructed the artists to use their comic book experience and graphic story-telling techniques to indicate movement, action, and other dynamic elements of the scenes. Normally in storyboarding, drawings are produced with copious use of arrows to illustrate movement and action. Feeling this was insufficient to truly demonstrate the level of action they had in mind, the Wachowskis corrected each artist once they produced their first drawing using the industry standard arrows…and they never used another arrow. This led to the dynamic, action-packed illustrations that fill over pages of this page volume.

And these illustrations are impressive, especially if you're a fan of graphic art, visual storytelling, or comic books. In fact, if you're a comic book/graphic novel fan, just go buy this book now. It's not cheap, but there are so many reasons that you won't regret it: the sense of movement in Steve Skroce's B&W storyboards, the beautifully colored art of Tani Kunitake's storyboards, and the incredibly detailed conceptual illustrations by Geof Darrow all add to this book's uniqueness and value. In fact, some of Geof Darrow's work on the 4 double-sided gatefolds in the center of the book are suitable for framing, and I would have done just that, but I don't want to cut my book up!

In addition to all the art, you get commentary by all the artists about their work on the film, the complete screenplay by the Wachowskis with scene notes by Phil Oosterhouse (assistant to the Wachowskis), thumbnail sketches by the Wachowskis, deleted script excerpts, & three cut storyboard sequences.

I hate to repeat myself, but this book is now one of my favorite Matrix items in my collection, and it's just about the only one I drag out to show everyone who visits. It's that good. Here's hoping we'll see The Art of The Matrix Reloaded soon!

This book is definitely a must-have for any Matrix fan. This book goes in depth about each scene in the Blockbuster hit movie. It includes mostly black and white illustrations and some colored ones of each and every scene. It's as if you're watching the movie in a book. Along with the illustrations are many commentaries to let you know what the Wachowski brothers were trying to accomplish. If this isn't enough, even the Wachowski brothers have commentaries in this book. There are also illustrations in this book that are NOT in the movie. Commentaries will tell you why these scenes were omitted. The Art of the Matrix is exactly that, an ART book. The storyboards are incredibly detailed and look fantastic. The majority of the drawings are done in black and white but there are some in color and color picture stills from the movie as well. The artist comments are fun to read and provide some insight as to what they and the directors were thinking.

Dean's background in documentary films is a major influence on his visuals. This workshop recreates the lighting of an interior fireside scene from "Wolves", using an exact replica of the teepee set. dakle, gledao sam ove subote Belle Star i onda se podsvjesno sjetio jednog filma, isto američkog klasika, kojeg sam doduše gledao dosta davno, pa se nikako ne mogu sjetit ni glumaca ni naslova ni išta

Dakle, filma se sjećam kroz maglu i dijelova radnje u biti je ljubavni moglo bi se reć vestern

Radnja počinje da se banda od nekoliko tipova u bijegu sakrije u štali/konjušarnici jedne bogate gđice koja se zaljubi u jednoga od njih, dalje ide ta interesantna ljubavna priča, do dijela kad tog razbojnika trebaju smaknuti.
Ona misli da su ga upucali i zapravo počne ga žaliti, a da ni ne zna da je on i dalje živ.
Izdaje knjigu o njihovoj ljubavi, njezinu kuću dolaze posjećivati grupe ljudi, postaju legende, itd itd

U jednom momentu on se odluči javiti joj se da je živ. Dolazi sa tom grupom ljudi koja svakodnevno posjećuje njenu kuću U početku ga ona niti ne prepoznaje, konačno ga prepozna, ali odluči da i dalje taje njegovu smrt kako bi legenda o njihovoj ljubavi živjela on na to ne pristane pa ga naposljetku ona ubije

U biti slabo se sjećam radnje pa pišem ovako nepovezano a ne mogu se niti sjetiti glazbe, zbog čega želim ovaj film ponovo pogledati, a mislim da je sigurno nagrađivana, jer ima jedna melodija koja prati film, na koju oni plešu (valcer čini mi se)

Glavna uloga je Charles Bronson, ne mogu se sad sjetiti imena filma, al vjerujem da ćeš se sad sam snaći na imdb-u. Inače, ima jedna genijalna scena u filmu, gđica spisateljica cjelo vrijeme misli da je Charles pročitao njenu knjigu pa je zahebava. Sigurna je da je to on tek kad skine hlaće, i gaće, dabome, i kaže joj "Ovog nema u knjizi, sjećaš li se?"
I ona se sjeti :D

Glavna uloga je Charles Bronson, ne mogu se sad sjetiti imena filma, al vjerujem da ćeš se sad sam snaći na imdb-u. Novi film oskarovca redatelja Dannyja Boylea iznosi jednu vrlo iznimnu istinitu priču o hrabrosti i preživljavanju. James Franco glumi mladog planinara koji donosi upravo nevjerojatnu odluku nakon što mu ruka bude prikliještena ogromnim kamenom u jednom zabitom kanjonu. U travnju , Aron Ralston je na samotnjačkoj planinarskoj ruti, duboko u Nacionalnom parku kanjona, u saveznoj državi Utah. Jedna gromada, odlomljena od stijene, odbaci ga u duboki procjep u stijenju i prikliješti mu ruku uz zid kanjona. Bez obzira što on pokušavao, gromadu ne uspijeva pomaknuti ni za milimetar. Prvih 24 sata produže se na 48, pa na Nikome nije rekao kamo ide na planinarenje, te tako Aron zna da su mu šanse za spas praktički nikakve. O svojoj nezgodi vodi video dnevnik na kameri koju je nosio u naprtnjači. Konačno, nakon pet dana, on odluči da si mora odrezati ruku ako se želi spasiti. Sve što ima je jedan tupi nož, no, uspije izvesti jezivu amputaciju, izvući se iz svog stjenovitog zatvora i zaputiti se ka sigurnosti civlizacije.

Aron Ralston je napisao knjigu sjećanja, naslovljenu "Između stijene i još tvrđega". Kaže da mu je promatranje stvaranja filma iz tih sjećanja predstavljalo unekoliko nadrealni događaj: "Za mene je to vrlo emocionalna stvar, premda je bilo fascinirajuće gledati kako se pretvara iz misli u žive slike. No, najdirljivije su mi vinjete koje prizivaju zahvalnost koju osjećam prema mojoj obitelji. Scenarij je, prema Ralstonovoj knjizi, napisao Simon Beaufoy, čija ranija suradnja s redateljem Dannyjem Boyleom uključuje i film iz , nagrađen oskarom, "Slumdog Millionaire". Obojica, i redatelj i scenarist, bili su svjesni da je scena amputacije kritičan dio filma, koji će predstavljati podjednako izazov i za stvaratelje filma i za publiku u kinima. Na koncu, taj je dio - koji je u stvarnosti trajao više od 40 minuta - na ekrane doveden ne samo s pravom dozom mjere nego i način koji čitav film čini inspirirajućim.

Iako je javnost često percipira kao Australku, jer je tamo počela svoju filmsku karijeru, ona je Novozelanđanka, rođena u Wellingtonu gdje je diplomirala antropologiju te se preselila u Australiju, završila slikarstvo, a zatim i Australsku školu za film, televiziju i radio. Tamo je napravila i svoje prve kratke filmove. Ona je također i prva žena u povijesti Canneskog filmskog festivala koja je osvojila Zlatnu palmu , i to za svoj prvijenac 'Peel' kojeg je napravila godine.

U tom devetominutnom filmu Jane prilično upečatljivo prikazuje tročlanu obitelj koja se vraća sa izleta jednog vrućeg ljetnog dana na australskoj cesti. Napetost između roditelja raste kad otac zaustavi automobil i natjera sina da pokupi koru naranče koju je bacao tijekom vožnje.

Zatim radi još tri kratka filma, sva odreda priznata i nagrađivana na filmskim festivalima. 'Passionless Moments' je trinaestominutni uradak koji se sastoji od neprekidne serije svakodnevnih misli, riječi ili djela koje su prezentirane na iznimno zanimljiv način. Tu su još 'After Hours' i 'A Girl's Own Story', koji je najduži od navedenih filmova, i u 27 crno bijelih minuta dočarava na i danas svjež način usamljen svijet odrastanja jedne djevojke i njenu opčinjenost Beatlesima.

Dario Lonjak rođen je godine u Karlovcu, gdje završava osnovnu školu i Opću gimnaziju. Od godine član je Kinokluba Karlovac, u čijoj produkciji radi nekolicinu kraćih filmova (uglavnom igranih te videospotova), od kojih neki dobivaju nagrade na domaćim i inozemnim festivalima. Nakon završetka srednje škole, godine, upisuje Akademiju dramske umjetnosti. Radio je kao asistent režije na dugometražnom filmu Branka Schmidta, kratkom filmu Kristijana Milića, projektu Dubravka Merlića itd. Trenutačno studira na 5. godini filmske i televizijske režije te priprema diplomski film.

Sadržaj: Na setu smo filma Sal&#; i dana Sodome. Iako je film pokrenuo brojne polemike, smiren i pomalo veseo Pasolini dopušta maloj ekipi da ga slijedi na setu pod vodstvom novinara Gideona Bachmanna s kojim se upušta u dug i neobičan razgovor.

Nedavno je u kinu Tuškanac, u okviru Smotre suvremenog talijanskog filma, prikazan zanimljiv dokumentarac «Naš dragi Pasolini» redatelja Giuseppea Bertoluccija, brata poznatijeg Bernarda, koji otkriva nove stvari o snimanju filma «Salo». Također, ovaj jednosatni uradak pokazuje još jednom kako je Pasolini, koji je ubijen godine, i danas iznimno aktualan kao politički angažirani umjetnik. Zagrebačkoj premijeri nazočio je producent ovog dokumentarca, Andrea Crozzoli, koji kaže kako je početni impuls za snimanje filma došao iz Pasolinijeva arhiva: “Mislili smo da je najbolje na neki način pokrenuti sve te statične slike, a dokumentarni film se onda ispostavio kao jako dobro riješenje. Također, imali smo snimljene i sate razgovora s Pasolinijem koji nikada nisu bili objavljeni, te smo sve to odlučili spojiti, a svemu i dodati glazbu iz filma «Salo».”

Crozzoli je inače jedan od vlasnika produkcijske kuće CinemaZero, koja stoji iza ovoga filma, a Bertolucci je angažiran kako bi se probio kroz nikada objavljeni materijal, tisuće fotografija i sate razgovora s Pasolinijem. Razgovore s Pasolinijem vodio je Gideon Bachman, dok je za fotografije zaslužna Engleskinja Deborah Beer. Jedna od stvari koja se može otkriti u «Našem dragom Pasoliniju» jest i autorova namjera da svojim posljednjim filmom komentira mentalitet potrošačkog društva, koje je tada tek bilo u nastajanju. Pasolini se u ovom slučaju pokazuje kao vizionar, te otvoreno komentira kako nam se svima serviraju govna, koja skupo plaćamo i u kojima, nažalost neizbježno, svi podjednako uživamo. Time se scene koprofagije iz «Salo» mogu iščitati doslovno, a osim očite alegorije na fašizam, jednu manje-više poraženu ideologiju, Pasolini se obrušava i na konzumerizam.

Different people explain in this fine documentary how Luis Bu&#;uel started to invent surrealist cinematic imagery and why he wanted to shock people and why he despises organized religion, faith and of course certain bourgeoisie. The importance of Toledo (to Jose Bello, Dali, Bu&#;uel and Lorca) is explained and what impact Velazquez, Goya and Cervantes had in Bu&#;uel's films. Also explained is why the acting in his films is always sober and never over-acted (i.e. use of eyebrows and nodding etc.).

Prica o izletu u epicentar ludila; besmislu rata; 'suludoj' viziji jednog covjeka (koja ga je u konacnici skoro pa kostala i glave/zdravog razuma). Za mene je ovo prica veca i od zivota, bez ikakve patetike. Uostalom, Ebert i pokojni Siskel upravo su ovaj dokumentarac - za sve nas itekako bolne godine - proglasili najboljim filmom.
