To update the WD software: From WD Server

1. Enable Email alerts.
2. When an update is available for your WD Sentinel Storage Server, a message SOFTWARE UPDATE AVAILABLE will be displayed in the alert viewer and an email will be sent.
3. In Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows login to the Launch Pad and select Dashboard option.
4. Enter the password when prompted. This is the administrator login to the Dashboard on your WD Sentinel RX
5. From the main Dashboard screen, select Monitor and select Software Update tab.
6. Under Check for Updates, select the Check for Updates button.
7. If new software is available, a message will display the available version.
8. Select the Download & Install button and the new software will download automatically.
9. Click Proceed to continue and the Dashboard will shutdown. The server will reboot multiple times during this process.
10. The update can take between 6 to 10 minutes to complete.
11. Upon completion of the update, an email alert will be generated prompting the user that the software update is complete and that the server is ready for use.

To update the WD software: Using USB Drive

1. Enable Email Alerts.
2. Download the Software Update (sentinel_firmware_x_x_xx_www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar) file to a desire location on the PC.
3. Obtain a USB Drive (2GB or larger) and insert it into a USB port on the PC.
4. Copy the sentinel_firmware_x_x_xx_www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar file on to the root directory of the USB Drive.
5. Safely eject the USB Drive from the PC and insert it into one of the USB ports in the rear of the WD Sentinel Storage Server.
6. On Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows login to the Launch Pad and select Dashboard option.
7. Enter the password when prompt. This is the administrator login to the Dashboard on your WD Sentinel RX
8. From the main Dashboard screen, select Monitor and select Software Update.
9. Under Check for Updates, select the Update from file button.
10. Click Proceed to continue and Windows Explorer will open.
11. Select the USB Drive previously inserted to the WD Sentinel Storage Server.
12. Select the Software Update file (sentinel_firmware_xx_xx_www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar) then click Open.
13. The Dashboard will shutdown and the server will reboot multiple times during the update process.
14. The update can take between 6 to 10 minutes to complete.
15. Upon completion of the update, an email alert will be generated prompting the user that the software update is complete and that the server is ready for use.

Important product update notes:

Do not interrupt the software update process. Doing so may cause the device to malfunction or render the unit unbootable. Once the update process has commenced, an email alert will be sent informing completion of the process.
