Windows 10 image download insider - not
MS Windows Insider Preview Downloads Page
April 22, , 0 Comments
Ive been involved in the Windows Insider program since the day after Windows 10 made its debut (October 2, ). Back then, it was called a Technical Preview, but its been Insider Preview since the OS made its official debut in July From then on, Its been part of the Updates & Security page inside Settings. Traditionally, Ive gotten my Insider Previews through Windows Update on that self-same Settings page. But it was only yesterday that I stumbled across a page dedicated to downloading Insider Previews in the MIcrosoft Software Download center. That page into which explains the editions available for download is shown as the intro graphic for this story. And of course, the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page is open to anyone who wants to visit. And of course, those who was to access this page must also sign up for the Insider Preview program before they can download anything.
The downloads available dont yet reflect the merger of the Slow and Release Preview rings that occurred last week. Editions include: Regular, Enterprise and China, each in Fast, Slow and Insider Preview iterations. Pick the edition you want to get the download process going.

Which Edition to Grab?
As the lead in graphic explains visitors have options to grab various editions of Windows to preview: these include Regular (formerly known as Current Branch, called standard Windows 10 Insider Preview edition in the text), Enterprise, Education (for which I saw no downloads presently available), Home Single language (for which I saw no downloads presently available), and Home China. I tend to stick with Regular or Enterprise versions myself, but you can grab anything you want that presents under the Select edition pull-down menu, shown above. Once you select an edition, you may be prompted for a language (except for the China editions), and then youll be prompted to choose a or bit ISO for download, as shown here for the Volume License Enterprise edition I picked as an illustration:
My best guess is that bit downloads comprise the vast majority of actual user selections, but bit versions are still available.

Why Visit Windows Insider Preview Downloads page?
This makes most sense for those setting up insider PCs or VMs for the first time, especially those who dont want to wait for Windows Update to make the download offer. For me, its now just another good source for Windows 10 download ISO files, along with the Download Windows 10 page (for current release ISOs) and www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar (for the whole historical gamut of Windows 10 and other releases, using their invaluable Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool). Thus, like me, you may want to add it to your favorites or bookmarks. Cheers!
