[Solved] Downloaded a .cgi file instead of PDF!

by claytonol » Sat Mar 07, am

I'm running open Susi with www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar Build and I am unable to open legislative document on the Obama www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar website ( www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar /ARRA_public_review/) the document is" www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar " I'm guessing openoffice has not yest released a build that can handle a .cgi extension. So this is a request for that build. Thanks

Usually, a .cgi extension is for scripts that run on the server side. You cannot access to the script itself, it is a program and it returns a result.

I guess that I remain confused and unable to access this document. Being a newbie is sometimes very frustrating and defiantly a drag. Actually, what I don't know about computers could fill a college degree . . . LOL
So my new understanding is that the problem is on the server end and that I should receive a PDF file. It is the lower left link on the site www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar .

When you click on the lower left link and follow the instructions, you eventually end to a window containing this:
If you click on this link which refers to a pdf document, your browser should either start downloading the file, or open it directly into a new internet page. Note that any pdf file reader should be able to open the downloaded file.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I tested this and downloaded the file. It saved as "www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar". It is actually a pdf file. Changing the extension from '.cgi' to '.pdf' enables opening it in a PDF viewer.

To end a thread, edit your first post and add "[Solved]" (without the quotes) at the beginning of the title, then check the green tick mark just above the title.
