Vue Scan

  1. I am considering Vue Scan software to use on my Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV, and Canoscan f. From what I have read the professional version of Vue Scan will work on any of scanners listed without purchasing anything extra. With Silverfast you would have to purchase software for each scanner. I would use the Minolta for 35mm, and the Canoscan for medium format. What would Vue Scan do that the provided software with the Canoscan not do.
  2. The best thing to do is to download the free demo version and give it a try to see if you like the options and the style of workflow that software requires. There are Vuescan tutorials and articles on the internet that will help you too. Just Google.

IDK why plp don do this kind of thing b4 even posting a question.
  4. Yes I have read older threads and other information, but thought others might have some newer ideas. I have downloaded the trial version of VueScan and it seems to run the Minolta Scan Dual IV just fine. Thanks and I will search for more info on VueScan.
  5. I like Vuescan because it seems to be well maintained and the quickest to update when new operating systems come out. I run it for Epson and Canon scanners without issueswhere the manufacturer&#;s softwares fail to respond(not detect the scanner)
  6. Vuescan never seemed to add anything useful to my KM Dimage Scan Dual IV. The OEM software is pretty great, actually. You do need to update the drivers for the scanner on newer operating systems though.
  7. I just tried vuescan for my HP G, the results were better than with the HP software. Before using vuescan I updated the HP software to the latest version. Not a perfect scanner, but better than before.
  8. I also have a question about VueScan. I&#;ve been using this guide to try to orient myself with the (professional trial version) VueScan software. I am using a Pacific Imaging PrimeFilmXA (Reflecta RPS 10M) that I just bought a few days ago from B&H to scan. I will be doing both C41 and black and white.

Currently I am stuck wandering around through menus and trying to find the "Lock film base color" checkbox. I have made sure that the "Lock exposure" is selected.

Is this option gone from the most current version of VueScan, is it only available in the paid version, or am I just missing it somehow?

Did you RTFM? It&#;s there in

Professional Option: This option is displayed when Input | Media set to a film type and when Input | Lock film base color is set.
  10. I did, in fact, already go through the manual. This being said, I only read the sections that directly related to the video guide/option I was looking for. I&#;m now going through the whole manual to see if there&#;s something I missed. I&#;m sure I&#;ve got the process right as far as I&#;ve been informed - but the "Lock film base color" is not showing up after I run my second scan.
  11. I figured out the issue - I had to reset the crop to "maximum" in the panel after making my "lock exposure" selection.
