Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams

Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number. 

At what point does the install fail ? Are you connected to the internet when installing ?

What version of GTA4 are you attempting to install - Retail disk, Steam, or other ?

I don 't know about the part, but (with a different second set of numbers from

what you have shown) = The cluster resource is not available.

- The only other error with the second set of numbers appears to be -  ,  0x , which translates to 'The system cannot find the file specified'.

However - www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar () points to an Installshield error. This could come from a corrupt

installer, or there may be files leftover from a previous failed install of the game.

- Check the location you are installing the game to. If there is a Grand Theft Auto 4 folder still

in that location, delete the folder (unless it's empty).

Also delete the GTA4 folder from your - User\My Documents\Rockstar Games.

- Reboot and try to install again.

The    Graphics :- Intel HD Graphics   could also be a problem. As there is no 'm' behind ,

I assume this is a PC, not a laptop.

- On a PC monitor of " or larger @ it may be unplayable, depending on your tolerance

for lag and stutter. GTA4 is a cpu intensive game, more so when the graphics processor is low end.

Your dual core i3 is likely to struggle to achieve playable frame rates ( i3's have two more 'virtual' cores via Hyper-threading, but GTA4 does not use Hyper-threading).

eg .- 'resolution, x ; FPS,  Avg_ 25 -Min 18 '. Not a smooth gameplay frame rate, and this

was using a quad core i5 w/HD graphics.

- If you were using a laptop with a small screen it may be OK, but the cpu would still  be working hard, so cooling would be an issue with long gaming sessions.

I have played GTA 4 on the same configuration but with the different monitor. Earlier I had the monitor of HCL CRT 17 inches but now I have Dell LED SL inches.

And yes, I have PC not a laptop.

But, are you sure that a monitor can be a problem??

I copied the original GTA 4 game cd and I'm trying to install it from my hard drive. But I don't have the CD available now.

The installation fails at the starting point after selecting the installation language.

'The system cannot find the file specified'. -  I thought that this may be in relation to a copy protection file. 

It may be your 'copy' to the HDD is missing DRM files.

'@Windows Vista Service Pack 1 ()' - If you copied a game that was installed on a machine with

Vista you may have problems running it, if your Win7 was a clean install  vs an  Win7 'Upgrade' from MS, because the registry keys for the game would be missing.

Only if the game installs. That was in reference to how well the system can handle the game.

If you are using a higher resolution setting in the game than when playing on the 17" monitor, yes.

The higher the res, the more pixels to draw. The game will run slower.

I have performed a clean installation of windows 7. I have never installed Windows Vista on my machine.

I have installed this game before from those setup files but no error occured both in GTA 4 and GTA EFLC.

But now, error occurs in both the setups.

And you said that a setup can't encounter an error because of monitor?..  Are you sure??..

Yes, quite.

- I was not clear before if you were copying an installed game, or installing from files copied to HDD.

I assume it is the later.

Is the reference to Vista in the error because you changed the www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar to Vista Compatibility ?

I used XP sp3 Compatibility when installing GTA4 from disk, but Vista sp1 is said to be OK as well.

But, I downloaded EFLC from Steam, and no compatibly setting was used with that.

I've never tried installing these games from a HDD with the games setup files copied to it, so don't 

know what additional issues may come from that method.

I do recall that installing GTA4 was the most troublesome I've experienced due to it's

multi-layered DRM - activation code, GFWL and Rocknerd social club.
