Download ringtones to pc

I had old ringtones saved on a mac that were mp3 files purchased from a 3rd party, and I wanted to transfer and store those ringtones to a Windows 10 PC laptop, then transfer to my iPhone SE. Since the Apple Help Rep wasn't familiar with what to do, I'm posting for others who might encounter the same trouble:

1. From the Mac I saved the ringtones folder on a thumb drive and transferred that folder to a Lenovo Yoga pc laptop.
2. I downloaded iTunes to the pc after disabling virus and firewall, and with help from a Microsoft technician, was able to sign in to a function iTunes account.
3. In iTunes I clicked File, then "Add File to Library" to select all the mp3 files to add to iTunes; those files then showed in iTunes in the Songs category under Library.
4. I opened File Explorer and clicked on the top "View" tab, then on the option to show file tab extensions.
5. In iTunes under Edit I chose Preferences, and under the "General" tab I clicked "Import Settings", then for "Import Using" I selected "AAC Encoder", and for "Setting" I selected "High Quality ( kbps), & clicked "OK" for the Import Settings and "OK" for the Preferences.
6. In iTunes Library in the Songs category, I selected an mp3 ringtone, then clicked File, then Convert, Create AAC Version, which created an AAC ringtone version immediately below the mp3 ringtone file I had selected; I confirmed the new file was AAC by right clicking and selecting "Song Info", then selecting the "file" and noting the file type as "AAC audio file" next to "kind".
7. I opened a new folder I named iPhone Ringtones on the PC and dragged the AA3 ringtone into that folder, where I then right-clicked that AA3 file and renamed its "m4a" extension to "m4r" (and clicked "yes" afterward on the confirmation prompt).
8. After plugging in my iPhone to the pc with the usb end of the lightning connector, the iPhone showed up in iTunes under Devices, just below the Library.
9. From the new "iPhone Ringtones" folder I dragged the newly renamed m4r ringtone file to the iTunes and into the "Tones" folder under Devices.
10. On my iPhone I opened Settings, Sounds, and Ringtone to confirm the ringtone had actually transferred to the device.

I finished with re-enabling Virus and Firewall functionality to the PC.
