How do you download mods for halo reach

Ever since dedicated modders have found their way to hex-edit Halo, there has been a very small subset of mods for the series. Ranging from small weapon tweaks to AI possession, these mods were ambitious and incredibly fun to play. Now, with Halo: The Master Chief Collection finally arriving to PC, there has been massive progress in the modding community for Halo: Reach.

Fans would have called you crazy if you told them AI could work in multiplayer or being able to fly a Sabre ship in any game mode, but those things are entirely possible and have been done on PC. Ranging from campaign overhauls to epic maps, here are 10 mods for the recently re-released Halo: Reach you need to try. Take note that this list will only cover PC mods.

10 Reach Remastered

While  have done a fantastic job at bringing the classic Halo: Reach over to PC with few performance issues, it doesn't change the fact that Bungie's older title looks dated by today's standards.

Thanks to the talented modding community, there is now a remaster of this game you can download on the Nexus modding website. It is called "Reach Remastered," and it adds tons of post-processing effects to give the game a more cinematic flair. Colors pop more, god rays help build atmosphere, and the inclusion of eye adaptation to bright light is a subtle but nice change.

9 Guta Firefight

Gutas are large creatures that players find in the "Nightfall" mission, easily destroying anything that gets in their way. They aren't used in the game past that point, but modders have found a way of including them in multiplayer.

"Guta Firefight" is a fun mod that adds Gutas to, you guessed it, Firefight. A dozen of these guys can swarm you at once, slamming the ground and towering over your team. It's a hilarious and fun twist on Firefight that you need to play with friends.

8 Elite Campaign

Outside of Invasion mode, there aren't many opportunities to play as Elites in Halo: Reach. Fans wouldn't expect to play as the Covenant during the campaign, but it would be cool nevertheless. Of course, there is a mod that fulfills this desire.

"Elite Campaign" is a massive overhaul for Halo: Reach, completely overhauling Noble Team with a mix of new Spartans and Elites. New weapons have been added, encounters in each campaign level have been altered, and the core sandbox has seen some massive changes to make this an experience unlike anything else.

7 Halo Reach Third Person Campaign

Halo is a notable FPS franchise, but the games have never invested into third-person infantry gameplay. This mod changes that, and it is surprisingly polished. "Halo Reach Third Person Campaign" does exactly what it is named.

Your perspective in the campaign shifts from first person to third person, letting you get a view of your character during the whole game. Surprisingly, the core combat of Halo is preserved well when the perspective is shifted and gives more animation flair to what you're doing.

6 ODST Campaign Overhaul

If being a badass Spartan is beginning to bore you, consider trying out "ODST Campaign Overhaul." Playing as an ODST in Reach's campaign is a unique but much harder experience.

You don't move as fast, jump as high, or have access to the infamous Armor Lock ability anymore. ODSTs have no shields and rely almost solely on their guns to survive. The reduced movement speed on your character adds a much larger focus on tactical gameplay, especially on harder difficulties. It is a challenging but fair mod that lets you experience Reach's campaign in a new way.

5 Halo Reach MCC PC Working AI Forge Menu

Before Halo 5 introduced Warzone, fans have always wanted Bungie to incorporate AI into multiplayer in a large gamemode. might have done so, but no Bungie Halo title has had this included.

Until now. "Halo Reach MCC PC Working AI Forge Menu" is a long name for one massive addition: AI. You can now spawn in AI into your multiplayer games, meaning you can have Elites, Grunts, Jackals, or even UNSC Marines fight alongside you or against you in multiplayer maps you create! The sense of scale this adds to multiplayer matches is unrivaled, making this one of the best mods released so far simply because it gives the community a massive tool in creating new, engaging maps.

4 Fallen Corvette

Firefight as Spartans as cool, but what would it be like if you played as an Elite? "Fallen Corvette" aims to answer that question in the coolest way possible. Here, you control an Elite that is taking on hordes of UNSC troops that are invading their ship.

As an Elite, you can melee humans, fire powerful Covenant weaponry, and you can even dual-wield weapons! Using two shotguns at the same time never gets old. The ship is even falling out of the sky, giving this map an atmosphere that no other mod can match.

3 Halo Reach Ultimate Forge World

AI in Forge is a massive breakthrough itself, but "Halo Reach Ultimate Forge World" takes Forge World to a whole new level.

This mod includes plenty of new items for players to mess with, mainly including new vehicles. Players can fly around in Seraphs, Pelicans, or even UNSC Frigates that take up half of the map! There is an unprecedented amount of fun that can be had with this mod.

2 Halo Reach Evolved

Out of every campaign overhaul the talented modding community has created, "Halo Reach Evolved" has stood as the best one because of its impeccable sandbox tuning and ambitious design.

Originally a mod for the Xbox version only accessible through modded consoles, this amazing mod has finally graced PC players. "Halo Reach Evolved" is mostly a sandbox tweaking mod, with the main goal of giving every item and gun in the game a distinct purpose. No longer is the Assault Rifle a trash-tier weapon and grenades finally have the damage you'd expect them to. Better yet, certain encounters have been tweaked while preserving Halo lore to keep the game fresh. There is simply no better campaign overhaul for Reach currently.

1 Extinction

Some entries in this list were more community tools than proper experiences. While AI in multiplayer is simply awesome, there aren't many modded maps that use these new features well.

Except "Extinction." This mod is effectively Battlefield in Halo. There are no better words for it. Players fight in a massive, open environment that contains various vehicles like Scarabs with AI that fight alongside you. Giant frigates cover the skies that players can fly ships out of. Yes, this mod allows you to pilot the Seraph, Longsword, or even a fully-working Pelican! You haven't truly played Halo: Reach on PC until you've tried this mod.
