Don't get this if you plan on using it for Linux, fine for Windows though
I bought this because it said that it would work with Linux. There was Linux drivers on the disc it came with but they were just incredibly confusing and I couldn't figure out how to install them. I did some research and I haven't found anyone who could get this to work with the included Linux drivers. However I did find an alternate driver online that some people say they got to work, but I couldn't get those to work either. This works fine on Windows, so there's nothing wrong with the device, it's just the Linux drivers are terrible. I hate it when companies put hardly any effort into Linux support. Read more
Died after less than 2 months.
Driver support is terrible. You MUST install disk first before using otherwise it won't work again. Either that or I got a dud. It did work well when I first got it. After about a month and a half it just stopped working. I use a hotspot at home for certain things so I need a decent wifi adapter for my PC. 50 dollar lesson learned, stick with Linksys, Netgear or Medialink. Read more
Adapter works fine once you get it installed. The software that comes with it leaves a lot to be www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar software simply does not work properly and support from their website is a jokeThe website is as dysfunctional as the software that came with the adapterI recommend people steer clear of this adapter until Rosewill provides installation software that follows NORMAL installation protocol (not a series of tricks and work-arounds)Installing a wireless adapter is usually very easy to do, but Rosewill software (from their website to the installation CD) is just plain sloppy and turns what should be a painless experience into an agonizing regretful endeavor Read more

Another vote for this being incompatible with windows IRQ_NOT_EQUAL Blue Screen errors with my desktop, flaky connection on both laptops I tried. The Roswell site provides drivers that fail to solve the issue, and trying the manufacturer's drivers and drivers from a couple of similar adapters (as suggested below) succeeded only in wasting a few hours. A Real Bargain!: Works Great on Windows with Latest Drivers. Also works on MacOS Yosemite with Significant Effort.
Great on my Windows Laptop. A little extra effort with my network achieved high-speed connection:Got this working on Windows laptop via USB3 port on Lenovo Yoga 13 by downloading and installing the latest Rosewill driver from www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar?ids=3___I did not have to disable the laptop's built-in Wi-Fi adapter (both seemed to still function) in order to get this Rosewill adapter to work, but I ultimately did disable the internal adapter by simply turning it off via Windows 's "Settings"->"Network" www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar installed on Windows , I could find no "Wireless LAN Utility" as described in the Quick Install Guide or User Manual, but I was able to use Windows' "Wireless Zero" utility, just fine.I became frustrated when Windows reported that Wi-Fi connection speed was only Mbps, as I knew this card was capable of connecting at Mbps (I know I won't enjoy this speed in actuality -- it's only the theoretical maximum for the Wireless AC standard over a single 5GHz band). Attempts to "force" the card into Wireless-AC only via driver settings (This PC->Manage->Devices->RealTek) simply crashed Windows (Windows blue-screened and restarted itself, at which point the card reverted to default settings). I should also note that simply disconnecting this USB dongle from the USB3 port, while in operation also crashed Windows -- not something I'd expect.I then logged into my router (Asus ACR) administration portal and changed its 5GHz Wireless standard from "Auto" to "N + AC" only and re-started the router. Once operational, Windows reported that my Rosewill USB Wireless Dual-Band Adapter Gbps (ACUBE) was now connected at Mbps!Also Successful on my Mac Mini running MacOS Yosemite (MacOS ) with Significant Effort:MacOS driver downloaded from Rosewill site, noted above, refused to install on Yosemite.I then trolled Edimax's website and found that drivers at: www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar?pd_id=&pl1_id=28&pl2_id=were named identically and contained release notes that were identical to those on the Rosewill site, yet Edimax drivers were newer. This latest utility version appears to eliminate the bogus "USB / USB Switching" dialog that previously popped-up when I would first start up the utility -- despite the adapter having 94% signal strength and being plugged into a USB native port).The above Edimax version driver did successfully install on my Mac Mini running MacOS Yosemite. It provided the Wireless AC utility (this utility opened up after the required MacOS reboot), with which I connected to my router's 5GHz SSID and achieved a claimed Mbps connection!Lots of effort, and I've only had it running for 1 day since purchase, but I'm very happy with this adapter's results at such a reasonable price. A 5-star device with 2-star driver support--requires driver from a competitor to work with 5ghz AC band
Excellent product, does what it's supposed to--connect to ghz/5ghz dual-band AC router through a USB port. Unfortunately the Rosewill disc and the Rosewill download site do not provide drivers appropriate for my Dell desktop unit which came with Windows I spent hours searching for a Windows driver for the Realtek chipset in this adapter, and finally found one on the web page of a competing brand with the same chipset. Look up the Premiertek product at Amazon, and drill to their download page for the drivers. I just installed the driver (make sure to install ONLY the DRIVER, not the application after you extract the compressed .rar file to a folder) and it works beautifully. Read more
This was a total waste of money
This was a total waste of money. It doesn't work on Windows with the drivers from the Rosewill website. The generic windows drivers don't work with it either. I tried the drivers for the equivalent Edimax UAC and those don't work either. It does however work on my friend's old laptop running windows 7, but that does absolutely no good for me. Read more
Worked great under Windows 7 but sucked under Windows
When I used it on Windows 7 64 pro, it worked great. Going to Windows , the thing worked horribly. I tried to get the latest driver from www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar but the chip is not listed on their site anywhere, so the most up-to-date thing I got was from Roswell. Why would Microsoft even include this driver in windows 8 if it does not work. Why would Realtek give them a broken driver? Where was the QA? Realtek is pretty aggressive with the driver updates, so i find it suspicious that this chip is not even listed on their site. Read more
