Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Back up apps

1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll to 'USER AND BACKUP,' then tap Backup and reset.
4. You must be logged in to a Google account to back up your apps. If necessary, follow these steps:
   1. Tap Backup account.
   2. Tap Add account
   3. Follow the prompts to log in to or to create a Google account.
5. If necessary, tap Backup my data to select the check box.
6. If necessary, tap Backup account to select the check box.

Back up contacts

Back up to your Samsung or Google account

1. From the Home screen, tap Contacts.
2. Tap the Menu key.
3. Tap Move device contacts to.
4. Select an account to back up your contacts.
5. Tap OK.

Back up contacts to SD card

1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll to 'APPLICATIONS,' then tap Contacts.
4. Tap the Menu icon > Settings.
5. If necessary, tap Contacts to display > All contacts.
6. Tap Import / Export.
7. Tap Export to SD card.
8. Review the file name for the contact list on the pop-up message.
9. Tap OK to confirm export.
10. A message flashes at the top of the screen indicating the contacts will be exported.

Back up media & pictures

From phone

1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap My Files.
3. Scroll to 'LOCAL STORAGE,' then tap Device storage.
4. Tap the Menu icon located at top-right to expand the drop-down menu.
5. Tap Select.
6. Locate the folders containing the desired media and picture files.
   • Pictures you capture using the Camera app are stored in the DCIM folder.
   • Media files are usually stored in Notifications, Downloads, or other file names.
7. To the left of the desired file or folder, select the check box.
8. Repeat as desired.
9. Tap the Menu icon located at top-right to expand the drop-down menu.
10. Tap Copy.
11. Tap SD card.
12. If necessary, navigate to and tap the desired folder.
13. Tap Paste here.

From computer - PC

1. Download and install Samsung Smart Switch that is compatible with your computer from www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar#!/
2. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
4. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
5. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
6. If necessary, follow these steps:
   1. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
   2. Tap Connected as a media device..
   3. Select the Media device (MTP) check box.
7. On the computer, click Open device to view files.
8. Navigate to the desired files on your phone.
9. Drag and drop the files into the desired computer folder.
10. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

From computer - Mac

1. Download and install Samsung Smart Switch that is compatible with your computer from www.cronistalascolonias.com.ar#!/
2. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
4. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
5. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
6. If necessary, follow these steps:
   1. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
   2. Tap Connected as a media device.
   3. Tap Media device to select the check box.
7. If necessary, click the Backup tab.
8. Next to 'Music' and 'Photo,' select the check box.
9. To back up all of your files, select 'Select all items' check box.
10. Click Backup.
11. Safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

Restore apps

1. If necessary, log into your Google and/or Samsung accounts.
2. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
3. Scroll to 'USER AND BACKUP,' then tap Accounts.
4. Tap Google if contacts are backed up to Google account.
5. Tap Samsung if contacts are backed up to Samsung account.
6. Tap your email address at the top of the screen.
7. Tap Sync all.
8. Tap the Back key.
9. Tap the Back key again to return to the USER AND BACKUP section.
10. Tap Backup and reset.
11. Under 'BACKUP AND RESTORE,' check/uncheck the following:
    • Back up my data.
    • Automatic restore

Restore contacts

1. If necessary, log into your Google and/or Samsung accounts.
2. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
3. Scroll to 'USER AND BACKUP,' then tap Accounts.
4. Tap Google if contacts are backed up to Google account.
5. Tap Samsung if contacts are backed up to Samsung account.
6. Tap your email address at the top of the screen.
7. If necessary, select the Sync contacts check box.
8. Tap the Menu icon.
9. Tap Sync now.

Restore media & pictures

From phone

1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap My Files.
3. Tap All files.
4. Tap SD card.
5. Tap the Menu icon located at top-right to expand the drop-down menu.
6. Tap Select.
7. Select the check box next to the files your media or pictures is stored on.
   1. Pictures are usually stored to a DCIM file.
   2. Media files are usually stored in the media file.
8. Tap the Menu icon located at top-right to expand the drop-down menu.
9. Tap Move.
10. Select Device storage.
11. Tap Move here to move to the main phone memory.
12. To move files to a location other than the main phone memory:
    1. Tap the folder name or tap Create folder.
    2. Tap Move here.

From computer - PC

1. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
3. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
4. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
5. If necessary, follow these steps:
   1. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
   2. Tap Connected as a media device.
   3. Select the Media device (MTP) check box.
6. On the computer, click Open device to view files.
7. Navigate to the desired files on your computer:
   • The Card icon is your SD card.
   • The Phone icon is your device's internal storage.
8. Drag and drop the files into the desired phone folder.
9. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

From computer - Mac

1. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
3. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
4. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
5. If necessary. follow these steps:
   1. Touch the Status bar and drag it down.
   2. Tap Connected as a media device.
   3. Tap Media device to select the check box.
6. If necessary, click the Restore tab.
7. Next to 'Music' and 'Photo,' click the check box to select the check box. If available, click the check boxes next to any other categories you would like to restore.
8. If you would like to restore all of your files, click the check box next to 'Select all items.'
9. Click Restore. If necessary, follow any additional prompts.
10. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
